Programs
Centre Region Parks and Recreation is proud to partner with South Mountain Scuba (SMS) of Port Matilda to provide SCUBA instruction.
This course will consist of the first part of PADI’s Open Water Diver course. There are two components: a self-paced on-line component and a series of five pool sessions held at Welch Pool in State College. Participants can then complete their certification with four open water dives with any PADI facility world-wide. SMS offers these dives locally for $150.
Participants must have their own mask, fins, snorkel and water shoes for the pool sessions. SMS will supply all other necessary SCUBA equipment. There is no requirement to purchase the mask, fins and snorkel from SMS. However, if you purchase elsewhere, please contact SMS early to receive detailed guidelines for selection and fit. Some of this equipment may be purchased on-line, but the dive mask should be selected and bought in-person to ensure that the mask fits properly and will not leak when diving.
Please enroll with a valid email address. Following registration, participants will be contacted to arrange access to the PADI eLearning materials. Several forms and the first eLearning module need to be completed before the first pool session.
If you have questions about the course you can find information on SMS’s website (www.southmountainscuba.com) and you are welcome to email the instructor (Rob Crane) at any time at: s.mountainscuba@gmail.com
